Context
This Thesis starts in early 2012, when I applied for Erasmus grant, and make contact with the University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern (FHNW) searching for a topic for my bachelor thesis.
This way I made contact with Corey Houle, who is the leader of the SwissKitePower project (SKP), and discovered a real project going on that really interested me.
I joined the project in October 2012, when I arrived to Switzerland and got in touch with the team and the ground station that was already built but still improving.
As this was the first time I joined a team like this, I decided to divide my thesis in two parts.
The first one was going to take place while I was getting some background of what was going on in the project, how things works and what can be done related with my studies. During this period I made the overhead power line.
Once I finished this part of the project, I decided it was not a very real situation and moved on to focus on the real ground station we had in the project to try to determine the power consumption and losses of the project.
I did this because as I am an Erasmus exchange student, I must achieve the objectives of both Universities, and I think this is the best way to make sure I have no future problems with the validation of the thesis.
