First simulation of the power flow
In order to help to understand what happens with the power flows of a single kite ground station,
a simplified simulation with Matlab Simulink was made. This will help to understand how the electrical
devices work and what their expected values for testing are.
It is important to clarify that this simulation does not have the purpose to show the power on absolutely
all of the elements involved in the ground station. It only focuses on the main elements.
The main elements considered in the simulation are:
- Electrical Synchronous Motor
- DC Bus with storage (Battery)
- Grid / Generator
- Braking resistor
Notice that for example some elements like the inverter/rectifier are not there, the reason of this is that we
only focus on the way the power flow through the system itself.
As an input we have a squared wave, which is not exactly real, but it is good enough for the initial purpose of
the simulation.
For a more in-depth purpose the second simulation was done, taking care about more elements, and the kind of
energy that is flowing through them.
